Last week, I got a call from CBS Morning News to fly to New York to film a segment on flavored water. As much as I wish that I could have rearranged my schedule, I was not able to grant the interview, but I had a lot that I wanted to say …
In lieu of forfeiting my interview last Friday, let me express what I would have said on the show:
Beware of flavored waters; choose health and fitness over taste. Make the healthy choice.
WHY drink flavored water? Seriously ask yourself this question. WHY teach your kids to go for the “sweet” taste when natural water is the #1 choice for all animal health? WHO profits in this venture? Not YOU or your children.
Healthy Choices
Just drink real, natural, spring water, but if you are trying to kick the cola habit and are jonesin’ for flavor in your water, you have many natural choices. For instance, add lemon, lime, or real cranberry juice to your water.
Here’s a tip we do at The Hullistic Network: add liquid peppermint flavored chlorophyll to bottled water. Chlorophyll is not only healthy for you, but the peppermint flavor tastes refreshing and leaves your breath smelling great. And chlorophyll balances body weight and your pH; chlorophyll is loaded in natural minerals and phytonutrients, and supports healthy blood.
Watching your calories? Well, chlorophyll/lemon/lime flavored water has 0 calories. Artificial colors and flavorings: none. Chemical sweeteners: 0, nada, zippo, ningunos, neun. Even the diet flavored waters have unnecessary calories.
Don’t Like Plain Water?
Many people admit that they just don’t like the taste of plain water and have a hard time drinking enough water every day; the flavored water just tastes better to them. Plus, crafty advertisements show fitness experts recommending flavored water while working out because other vitamin waters have more calories, and they have to do 15 more minutes on the stationary bike to burn those extra calories.
Advertisers Aren’t Nutritionists
Ask yourself why you can’t be satisfied drinking a pure form of water – water is what your body is made of and survives on. Pure spring water is what all animals drink daily to stay alive. Why do you feel you need a chemical water to be healthy and happy? YOU DON’T!
As I have written many times before: “advertisers aren’t nutritionists.” Advertisers are simply trying to make money off you – YOU must use your common sense to avoid the gimmicks that can make you sick. Especially when at the gym.
Well, which of these water choices has fewer calories? Which is pure and natural? Which one is better for your health when you work-out? My spring water selection, of course.
Get Chemical Drinks Out Of Our Schools
We MUST teach our children to return to natural eating and drinking if we have any hope of raising a healthy “next generation” of responsible leaders. We must get these “sweet, yet irresponsible, temptations” out of our schools, and responsible parents need to step up their game and teach their children real nutrition. Eat like your grandparents did. They did not face the issues that we struggle with today – obesity, apathy, learning disorders, lower IQs, or epidemic degenerative diseases.
Go get a cold glass of spring water, and take little sips to learn how to appreciate Mother Nature’s gift to all things. Pure, fresh water.
Bottoms up!
