An Information War
The patterns are clear – every time a new research study is published proving aspartame causes cancer, MS, memory loss, or another degenerative disease plaguing consumers today, government watch-dog agencies always seem to counter-publish a draft discrediting the scientific studies. When will this endless “information war” end?
In The UK
The European Food Safety Authority recently published a draft scientific opinion discrediting more than 20 aspartame studies that identified serious health problems caused by aspartame, ranging from premature births to cancer. This is unacceptable to the many scientists, and consumers, who have proven the health dangers of using products with aspartame.
A leading British expert on aspartame dangers has called for an investigation into this EU “decision that aspartame is safe.” Hat’s Off to Erik Millstone.
Erik Millstone
This highly esteemed, tenured professor at the University of Sussex SPRU (Science and Technology Policy Research Centre) in Brighton, England, has been fighting for aspartame disclosure for over 30 years to educate EU governments and consumers about the dangers of aspartame. Dr. Millstone has a first degree in Physics, and three postgraduate degrees in Philosophy.
Professor Millstone’s research and documented-aspartame-timeline presents conclusive evidence that the dangers of this chemical food additive have been well documented since the 1970s. I worked with Dr. Millstone when I was writing my first book on the dangers of aspartame, Sweet Poison, and had the pleasure of meeting him while speaking in London in 2005. He is currently working with Parliament and the EU governments concerning the current debate on chemical food dangers and their harmful effects on humans.
Much of Dr. Millstone’s research focuses on the ways public policy-makers reach decisions concerning the protection of environmental and public health. He is particularly interested in how policy-makers decide on the rules with which they regulate industrial products and manufacturing processes, especially in the food and chemical sectors. Dr. Millstone has studied a wide-range of public health and environmental issues, including food additives such a aspartame, pesticides, BSE, GM foods and crops, and the control of lead pollution.
The Debate Goes On And On
Thank you, Dr. Erik Millstone – a good friend, honored colleague, and fabulous human being! Your tireless efforts to expose the truth about the dangers of aspartame proves that your level of integrity, and intelligence, rises far above the decision makers who continue to allow this questionable food chemical to remain on the public market.
