One of the key components to my Detox Program – and to any good Detox Program, for that matter – is using B3 niacin.
Why? Because B3 niacin is Nature’s statin drug.
It cleans your blood.
And that’s a good thing!
B3 Niacin
Pure niacin (B3) is the key to taking a niacin supplement. The flush-free brands have been altered in the lab to slowly release over time, and this can be toxic to your liver. Flush free forms of niacin don’t produce a flush, and the niacin flush is the only way to regulate how much niacin your body really needs.
My favorite brand of niacin is Carlson’s Niacin 50 mg tablets. The Carlson Company has been around for decades, and their vitamins are as pure as they were in the 1950s. Their B3 is one of the best on the market – then, and now.
Remember this general Rule-Of-Thumb:
If you have more toxins than niacin, you may not feel a burn or a flushing sensation through the capillaries on your skin. (With flush-free brands, you’ll never feel a flush.) As you increase your daily intake of pure niacin, you enhance the amount of B3 in relation to your toxic load.
When you have more niacin than toxins present in your blood, you WILL feel the flush within 10 to 20 minutes after taking it. This is how you know how much your body needs.
Niacin is not found in corn, so people on a corn-based diet are usually deficient in B3. In 1942, niacin was added to enriched flour and other commercially made products, but this didn’t give your body the B3 that it needed.
Niacin Benefits
Niacin is proven to regulate blood sugar; it is needed in the synthesis of sex hormones, and detoxifies the body of many drugs and chemicals. B3 assists in healthy mental function, and is necessary for red blood cell formation and blood circulation.
B3 niacin can lower cholesterol and is a vasodilator. It assists in the maintenance of skin, nerve, and blood vessels. Niacin is involved in the normal secretion of bile and stomach fluids and is used for the production of hydrochloric acid, critical for proper food digestion.
Like the other B vitamins, B3 helps the body metabolize carbohydrates, fats, and protein. People who are highly toxic or drink alcohol daily have an increased need for vitamin B3 niacin. Because they do not typically metabolize their vitamins efficiently, the elderly and individuals with hyperthyroidism also need higher doses of niacin.
What a brilliant vitamin this is!

My Detox
For my Detox Program, I recommend taking 50-mg of pure niacin on a slightly full stomach; increase by 50 mg. daily until an immediate flush occurs (within 10 to 20 minutes).
Do not panic if you turn red or your heart beats rapidly; this is a sign that your blood is cleansing and toxins are being removed. (Note: If an elevated heart rate continues for more than an hour or more, you certainly want to check into why the flush did not restore your normal heart rate shortly after the niacin was metabolized.)
Some people take as much as 500 mg of pure niacin three times a day during detoxification, until they break through deep, heavy toxic layers. I never recommend taking more than 500 mg of pure niacin at one time, and I do not recommend taking more than 1,500 mg daily.
Be patient, and take your cleansing slowly.
Heavy Metal Detox
Many times heavy metals take time to remove, especially if they have embedded within deep tissues layers; so stay patient and give your body the time it needs to excrete toxins slowly and safely.
The less food you have in your stomach, the quicker the niacin will get into your blood-stream to do its work, but some people may get a stomachache when taking niacin on an empty tummy, so judge for yourself what works best for you.
Just know, the pure forms of niacin are working to remove toxins from your blood and assist cleansing your liver, whether you feel the flush, or not.
When To Take Niacin
I recommended taking niacin before exercise or a work out, before a hot bath or shower, when in a sauna or steam bath, or at a time when your pores are open and your heart rate is naturally elevated. Children can take low doses of niacin before a warm bath, before playtime, or before sleep.
If you have more toxins than niacin, you may not feel a flush right away, but when you do break through toxins deposited within deep tissue layers, the stronger the flush, the cleaner your body and blood are becoming.
Remember, NEVER use time released or flush free forms of niacin; use pure niacin that will activate immediately so you will know the present degree of toxicity circulating within your bloodstream.
NOTE: Be cautious when taking more than 50 mg. of niacin if you are taking blood thinners or using any blood pressure medication because it will thin your blood too much at one time. If on medications, you may want to inform your medical doctor to let him or her know that you are taking a pure niacin supplement. Don’t be surprised if your medical adviser is not familiar with niacin or the detoxification process, as most AMA medical schools do not recognize the importance of nutrition.
Nature provides the tools we all need to stay healthy. Niacin is Nature’s stain drug. I suggest trying niacin before getting on meds, so why not try??
