Q: Reactions To Aspartame and B12
Dear Dr. Hull,
I’ve had exposure to aspartame for a long time (chewing gum).
About a month ago, I also increased the amount of vitamin B12 I was taking (my only supplement). Within a week I began having arm and hand pain, numbness and tingling.
Is there a test that can be used to test for B12 allergy? (I’ve stopped chewing gum).
Thank you very much!
A: Detoxing Can Stimulate Reactions To Any Toxin
Yes, the hair analysis will show your cobalt level, which is related to B12. But, it appears you are having an aspartame reaction not a B12 reaction, which was stimulated when you added a healthy element that tried to balance things internally.
When reactions to healthy supplements occur so quickly, you can be assured that your body is trying to use that nutrient as a good tool to sweep the bad things out.
Stopping the aspartame was the right thing to do, but expect more withdrawal reactions, and some may be odd health symptoms that might appear out of nowhere – they were hidden internally.
Think of this like turning the volume down on some very loud heavy metal music blasting on the surround sound. Now, you can hear the other sounds around you. But, your ears may still be ringing.
I do suggest having a hair analysis done because in situations like this, you don’t want to guess about what else is going on – get some answers so you can heal this efficiently, and permanently.
Never doubt that as you swallowed the toxins in the gum, odd health reactions slowly built up over time. This is serious business because these toxins are seriously harmful.
Sugarless gum is a really harmful way to “slow-drip” these chemicals into your body through your saliva and digestive juices in the mouth.
I hope that you have caught this before it has gone too far, and again, I feel that the B 12 has simply stirred the hornet’s nest – much like spraying an insecticide on a wasp’s nest, but not totally eradicating it – you just stirred the hornets up.
Please go to this link to see what the hair analysis shows, and know that one key to its success is in my interpretation and recommendations.
If you type in your email, you can see some sample lab reports (your email is not to put you on any list, but it grants us permission to share the lab reports and it cuts any spam.)
For every hair analysis that I do, I write a very long report breaking the lab results down for you in simple ways – it’s about 15 pages, and a lot of work – but I show you what’s going on and what you can do about it before things go south.
Wishing you the best in health,
Janet Hull
