I watch youtube podcasts for my daily news updates (nope, I don’t have TV and I do not watch mainstream news – ever). I am seeing more advertisements on youtube, as of late, and one I see often is selling a headache remedy.
This ad captured my curiosity. It was promoting the fact that people have headaches everyday.
Hum. Really? That stinks.
The ad mentioned that people don’t smile in photos anymore because they are in pain.
It touted that children are growing up in pain, and they don’t know what it’s like to live without pain.
What I didn’t hear them say is why do these people have headaches in the first place?
Good question, right?
First figure out what’s causing the headache and then fix that!
#1 Side-Effect
The first question that I would ask is:
Do you use aspartame and the diet sweeteners?
When I was writing Sweet Poison, I discovered then (back in the 1990s) that lots of medical research showed that aspartame penetrated through the Blood Brain Barrier, and this resulted in migraine headaches.
Big ones.
Bad ones.
So, if you or someone you know has headaches regularly, scrutinize your diet for aspartame.
Then, stop using it and see if your headaches lessen immediately and go away after a few days.
Hidden Chemicals
Aspartame can now be hidden in your food, drinks, gum, and medicines because manufacturers are no longer required to clearly label what they are peddling as sugar-free.
The responsibility to track this down is up to YOU. You have to become aware of the ingredients that someone else is putting into everything that you buy, including medications.
If you are experiencing chronic health symptoms, the first thing to do is read all the labels on everything in your kitchen and bathroom. Why the bathroom?
They use aspartame and diet sweeteners in lip balm, toothpaste, and mouthwash. None of these products will be labeled as sugar-free.
YOU have to look on the ingredients for yourself.
Then throw the product in the trash or take it back to the store and request your money back. Tell them that it makes you ill, and they should record that when they return it to the manufacturer.
Read All Your Labels
So, if you or your children, friends, or co-workers are experiencing headaches daily, please read all of your labels and remove the ones with aspartame.
Aspartame is stealthily found in these common products:
- gum
- yogurt
- juice
- cereal
- ice cream
- cold and flu medication (i.e.TheraFlu®)
- pain killers (i.e.Tylenol®)
- colas
- the list goes on and on
Please remember that when you experience chronic pain – search for the reason why.
