I drink lots of water every day. Actually, since I started spiking my water, I haven’t had a cola for months – actually in years.
Do you get water belly if you drink too much water? A better question to ask is do you drink enough water every day?
Well, a great trick for drinking enough water without getting water belly is to spike it.
Spike It
I drink water from a large Yeti®, and I drink about 4 Yeti-waters a day. Throughout the day. I spike my water with:
- powdered collagen + ascorbic acid (vitamin C); or
- powdered electrolytes.
Electrolytes
If you are outside in the hot summer months a lot, add an electrolyte to your drinking water. Do this instead of drinking sugary gator-type-drinks with food coloring, sugar or the artificial sweeteners.
I use the Lemon-lime flavored ElectroMIX from Emergen-c® that provides the electrolytes my body needs, including potassium and magnesium, to replenish and rehydrate in the hot Texas sun. They have other flavors, too, but I have found that the Lemon-lime tastes the best and I don’t get tired of it.
Sometimes I have a hard time finding the Emergen-c, so I’ve started buying Trace Minerals PowerPak, and it is actually a better product. Trace Minerals electrolyte formula contains 1200 mg of Vitamin C, all the major electrolytes (potassium, magnesium, chloride and sodium), plus over 72 ionic minerals and trace minerals.
Stay hydrated in the summer sun without getting water belly.
Collagen + Ascorbic Acid
Collagen is tasteless, but the powered ascorbic acid tastes like the Lemon-lime electrolytes. What a healthy and tasty water to drink throughout the day.
Collagen
I’ve written about the health benefits of collagen, and I notice a positive difference when I add it to my daily water.
Studies show that after taking collagen supplements for a few months, you can improve skin elasticity, which lessens wrinkles and other signs of aging. Collagen makes up 90% of your connective tissue and 70% of your skin.
Collagen also supports your hair, gastrointestinal tract, joints, bones, and muscular tissue. It contains the amino acids proline and glycine, which are what primarily help strengthen your intestinal lining, and this is helpful if you have IBS or other intestinal issues.
Ascorbic Acid (vitamin C)
I am a big fan of Clif High and his amazing recovery from colon cancer. Clif is an inventor and brilliant scientist, and he created some health products to restore his body weight and muscle mass after his cancer. PureBulk sells his:
- PureSleep
- Chaga mushroom tea
- Ascorbic Acid (vitamin C)
I use them all for preventative good health.
If I’m working outside, I make sure to add an electrolyte to my water, but typically once a day, I add the collagen and the Ascorbic Acid in my Yeti. It flavors the water so I don’t get tired of drinking only water, and I don’t get the water belly from drinking water all day.
Try these tricks to make sure you’re drinking enough water daily, and you should feel the positive difference.
