Hola, Dr. Hull. I am writing you from New Mexico to let you know that if it weren’t for your work, I would never have been able to help my wife. My wife and I are both 55 years old, and it took me a while to figure out what was making my wife so ill, but after reading your stories, I had to write and tell you about what happened to my wife, Maria.
In and around June 2020, she began having pains all over her body and our doctor said they were most likely arthritis, so he sent us to a rheumatologist for a bunch of tests.
The rheumatologist confirmed that she had arthritis, and that she should quit work and just try to make herself feel better. During a follow-up doctor’s visit, my wife mentioned getting a second opinion, and the rheumatologist told her that if she didn’t believe him, maybe she should get a second opinion.
We did that and after talking to our family doctor, he got us an appointment at UC San Francisco in January. We were glad to go (even though this was during the COVID mess), but we thought it was worth the travel because we could get a real answer to the first rheumatologist’s diagnosis.
We were right! This rheumatologist told her that she did not have arthritis, but he did not know what was wrong with her. He, of course, wanted to blame her health condition on COVID, even though she tested negative.
After 3 more visits to CA for a battery of tests, they did tell us that sometimes arthritis symptoms will show up, but their tests can’t confirm it. Great… still no answers! They told us that arthritis might take a few years to finally show up positive on their tests.
Now discouraged again, and still in a lot of pain, we went home with no answers.
After months of continued pain, a friend sent us one of your articles on the effects of aspartame and arthritis. Maria lived on diet coke, diet gum, diet this and diet that, but at the end of May, she stopped using anything with aspartame, and are you ready for this …. by the 4th of July, she was playing volleyball at a July 4th party.
I am a BIG believer that your information is the answer, and our faith that the answer was out there brought us to this happy ending.
It took until about November for her to fully recover, but she now is back to work, pain free, and aspartame-free.
Thank you for helping us get our life back. I am disappointed that this information is not more readily accessible, but I am not surprised … not these days.
From Dr. Hull
Thank you for sharing your amazing story. Maria is lucky to have such a loving husband, and you both are smart to keep looking for answers to unresolved health problems.
Unfortunately, your experience is not uncommon, and medical misinformation is sadly more prominent today and getting worse with our dumbed-down mainstream media interfering.
Inexcusably, too few medical doctors are aware of the problems associated with artificial sweeteners. Most medical schools today only require one cursory course in nutrition, and the AMA has encouraged their doctors to avoid addressing this very profitable issue.
If they hide the truth about aspartame, what else are they hiding from the public?
I’m so glad that you persisted resolving this problem, and so proud that your wife is doing well after all this time of pain and money spent. You also have a very good friend who cared enough to help you both by sending you this information.
I would love to share your story with others because when you know the truth, you can find the answers that can help you heal – I’d say from just about anything.
My best in health to you both. Keep sharing your story to help others.
– Janet Hull
