I had a phone consultation with one of my clients the other day, and we had a good time chatting about many things from detoxing to mosquitoes. I live on a wildlife preserve and Michele lives on a farm and raises goats. One of us mentioned mosquitoes. We both took a deep sigh.
I live in Texas and Michele lives in Connecticut, but mosquitoes are a huge problem for both of us – 1,786 miles apart.
1,786 miles of mosquitoes swarming from north to south.
Chemical Free
I don’t use any chemicals (fertilizers or chemical sprays) on my wildlife preserve, but sometimes, I have to bust out the mosquito spray. Michele’s goat farm is also all organic, and she has found a great natural way to beat the mosquitoes – not only for her comfort but she uses it on her goats when the mosquitoes get really bad.
She gave me this all natural mosquito spray recipe that she said really does work.
It’s a great idea to spray it on your hat and shirt, and it’s safe for me to spray myself around my exotic birds. I’ll try anything natural to help them keep pesky mosquitoes away.
Recipe To Fight Mosquitoes
Ingredients:
- Pure citronella
- Organic apple cider vinegar
- Mineral oil
Directions:
- Get a spray bottle
- Put a small amount of citronella in first;
- Add the mineral oil (very little – just a little more than a cap full;
- Fill the rest of the bottle with raw apple cider vinegar.
Play around with how much citronella you want to add.
Many homemade bug sprays just aren’t strong enough when the mosquitoes get really bad, but this one is definitely worth a try!
Spray away.
