Are you stressed these days? If you’re not, we all want to know why not!
For most of us, we are caught in the “stresses” of life in today’s world. Granted, we don’t have a T-Rex chasing us, but our bodies are not created to handle the amount of stress that we are facing today.
By the time the sun sets, your serotonin level should be naturally shutting down and your melatonin level starts kicking in so that you can relax and go to sleep after dark – at least that’s Nature’s intention.
It is important to start winding down in the late evening hours because by 8:00 PM, your body is ready for sleep so that it can repair from your day’s activities – healing damaged cells, detoxing, and restoring your body while under deep REM.
If you are a night owl, or if you are too active late in the evening, start training yourself to RELAX at night. Here are some tips for creating your own, relaxing bath that will “train” your body to shut down after dark.
Relaxing Spa Recipes At Home
Avocado, Honey & Oat Facial Mask
The avocado and honey mask moisturizes dry skin while the oatmeal balances and calms.
- 1 ripe avocado
- 2 tbls raw, organic honey
- 1/4 cup uncooked oatmeal
Mix all three ingredients together. Apply a medium layer to your face. Let sit for 10-15 minutes. Wipe clean and rinse with lukewarm water.
Rose Water
Rose water in the bath relieves fatigue and soothes the skin.
- 1 cup fresh organic rose petals
- 1 cup distilled water
Place fresh petals in a bowl. Steep for 30-60 minutes (at room temperature). Strain petals from liquid. Let cool completely in sealed jar; refrigerate overnight.
Add to bath water.
Cucumber Parsley Facial Mask
This will rejuvenate your skin while it moisturizes.
- 1 tbls plain yogurt
- 1 tbls cucumber
- 1 tbls parsley
Puree the cucumber and parsley until fine. Mix in yogurt until smooth. Apply mask and let sit for 15-20 minutes. Wipe clean and rinse with lukewarm water.
Honey Lemon Sugar Scrub
This will gently exfoliate your skin, leaving it soft and smooth.
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup sweet almond oil
- 4 tsp lemon juice
- 4 tbls honey
- 4 drops lemon essential oil
First mix sugar and almond oil. Then add the other ingredients and mix well. Wipe clean and rinse with lukewarm water.
Ah – I’m more relaxed just writing this.
