Think about when you have a fever when you’re sick – you want to sleep a lot. Well, this is why. Your body heals when you sleep.
If you cut your finger, you should always immediately clean the cut and then put a bandage over it to protect it during the day. It will begin to heal and grow new skin when you are asleep.
Babies sleep a lot because their brains are still developing up to 2 years old. It’s important to let them nap consistently for the first several years of their lives so they can allow their bodies the time needed to develop strong brains and immune systems.
All you need to do is get out of your body’s way when it needs to heal. When you fall asleep and let your miraculous immune system take over, you allow your body the time to heal.
