Imagine a clothing factory. Let’s say it’s a manufacturing plant that makes cotton jackets.
The jacket that you are wearing didn’t come together without lots of organized steps, and without lots of different materials.
The jacket is awesome, but take a minute to think about all of the individual components needed to make the end product.
Your body works in the opposite way when you eat and drink – it disassembles the final product.
A Drive-Thru World
Unless you were raised on a farm, most people don’t realize what all is required to make the various prepackaged and frozen food entrees in the grocery store. We live in a prepared, drive-through world where everything is already “completed’ for you.
Let’s use a chicken pot pie for an example.
You bring the frozen pie home, pop it in the microwave, sit down and enjoy your dinner. You didn’t have to make the pie crust from scratch, you didn’t have to catch and kill the chicken; you didn’t have to dig up the potatoes and peas, or shell the peas.
And thank goodness, you didn’t have to milk the cow to prepare the cream for your pie.
Boy, do we have it easy these days!
Okay. Now that we have making the frozen pot-pie out of the way, let’s look at this pie the way your body looks at it.
How Your Body Eats Your Food
Now that you have eaten your frozen, prepared chicken pot pie, your body has a lot of work to do reversing everything that was done to make the pie.
When your body digests the pie, the process starts in your mouth and finishes in your stomach – it has to literally undo everything that was done to create the pie.
Your body will break apart the potatoes, carrots, and peas. Then, it will separate the chicken from the pie crust. It will remove the sugars and oils, and it will isolate the cream.
Your stomach enzymes take the solid food and dissolve it into mush. They pulverize the mush until the essential elements in the food are totally captured. With the assistance of your pancreatic enzymes, your body will isolate the many forms of nutrients found in your food.
- Pancreatic proteases (such as trypsin and chymotrypsin) – which help to digest proteins;
- Pancreatic amylase – which helps to digest sugars (carbohydrates);
- Pancreatic lipase – which helps to digest fat.
By the time your stomach enzymes and your pancreatic enzymes have disassembled your food, everything that you just ate is sent into the bloodstream for the purpose of feeding your cells.
The unusable food is dumped into the trash through your intestines, a network ending in your urine and bowels.
Let Your Body Be The Processing Plant
So, at the end of the day, whatever you eat for breakfast, lunch, or dinner will be totally broken apart and disassembled into the primary essential elements used to originally build prepackaged, frozen entrees.
It almost seems like a waste to buy fancy frozen dishes, doesn’t it?
Eat The Nutrients and Not The Food
The best way to eat for optimal health is to provide your body the nutrients it needs in their simplest and most original forms.
… like eggs, seeds and nuts, raw veggies, and organic meats processed as little as possible.
Let your body be it’s own processing plant. Provide it the materials it needs to build the final product that it knows will serve your body the best.
Eggs = brain fuel.
Raw sugars = energy.
Raw veggies = cleansers.
Healthy oils = lubrication for your skin, bones and joints.
