Hopefully, you’re old enough to remember what this means – grandma’s nighttime toddy.
Back in the day before sleep aids, like sleeping pills, people had to invent various ways to make them sleepy. The nighttime toddy surfaced as a way to knock them out, but it was liquor, and this was a no-no for women many years ago.
So, grandma renamed her boozy sleep aid as her “nighttime toddy.”
When I was a kid in the 50s and 60s, my dad would make his cough syrup if I had a cold coming on, and THAT served as a good sleep aid, needless to say.
Pop’s Boozy Toddy
- 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp honey
- 1/2 jigger bourbon (I was a kid, but pop used 1 jigger for himself – LOL)
Grandma’s nighttime toddy was similar.
She never had a cough.
I have a nighttime toddy for you, but it has no liquor. As a matter of fact, all the ingredients are very healthy for you.
Hullistic Healthy Nighttime Toddy
Note: The ingredient amounts depend on how much you want to drink, but 1 cup is recommended to consume like a hot tea.
- apple cider vinegar
- lemon juice
- cinnamon
Mix together and heat before drinking.
The cinnamon removes the vinegar taste and creates a taste more like apple cider.
Good night ….
